New conceptual design for the manufacture of components "How can we achieve a significant reduction of work-in-process with a simultaneous productivity enhancement and delivery time reduction? For this purpose we have elaborated together with SCHULER a plausible concept which incidentally provided us new insights." This is the summarized statement of Leonhard Ströker, interlübke, when talking of the experience he gained in the cooperation with SCHULER.
The task of the engineering project was to define a future development direction of a component production at interlübke. In this connection, the method of simulation could be profitably deployed.

		Efficient production of standard and tailor-made manufacturing For interlübke it is a matter of course to offer its international, quality-conscious clientele a high degree of furniture design and configuration options. Additionally wide-ranging special requests can be met. The task of the engineering project was to further expand these strengths by using a modern manufacturing concept.

Elaboration of an optimum manufacturing systematic

The point of departure was a comprehensive complexity analysis which also allowed quantifying the continuing trend towards customized tailor-made manufacturing. Based on a thorough quantity analysis the optimum vertical range of manufacture was determined in the course of the project. The selection and configuration of adequate machinery as well as the dimensioning of logistics areas were another subproject. All new insights were finally compiled in a block layout design. Particular useful proved to be the evaluation of different system alternatives during the course of the project.
